Man With Scythe Shot

POLICE shot a man in the leg when he threatened them with a scythe at Gatton, west of Brisbane, yesterday.
A spokeswoman said police had been called to the house about 4am to investigate reports that a man had become violent.
``When they arrived at the house they were confronted with a man wielding a very large scythe," she said.
A police officer fired one shot which struck the man in the leg. The man wasn't carrying any other weapon when he confronted police. The man was taken to Toowoomba hospital for treatment of the leg wound.
The Police Ethical Command and the Crime and Misconduct Commission are investigating.
